Maison Fabre / glover
Visit of the workshop Mod Art International 16 June 201
Maison Fabre is transmitted and transforms for four generations.
The story begins in Millau (Aveyron) in 1924. Etienne Fabre, Master Glover, founded his company in glove. Initially he cuts himself leathers with his brother. Some stitchers carried working from home. Since 1928, the glover artisan was specialized in the white kid gloves and work was organized on three floors of his modest home where cutters and stitchers gradually took their place.
Despite the crisis of recent years, the retirement of cutters and stitchers, Maison Fabre continues and develops thanks to the creators. Haute Couture houses appeal to the Glover worldwide, a new store is installed in the Galeries of Palais Royal and the House sets up training courses to transfer this rare skill.
The export sales are growing and 14 people still work in the cradle of French glove, Millau in Aveyron.
